THE FIVE CS THAT MAKE EACH AND EVERY DOG THE HEAD – PART 1 Barbara Irving BVSc
The joint of the jaw varies from the human one in that in the dog it is double-jointed, allowing the dog to have a much wider mouth opening than ourselves. This phenomenon also occurs in other carnivores. This fact possibly accounts for the number of bites that go wrong at all ages in the dog. In such a case this is due to dysplasia of the jaw joint for whatever reason, possibly inherited, or developmental or accidental reasons.
BOOK & DVD REVIEWS erinrac.com
The title pulled me in, this is a subject close to my heart, and it was with great expectations that I undertook a study of this 2007 self published book. The spiel did make me aware the author had a heady bias to English Springers, and American style English Springers at that, but it was the lack of editing that destroys the adventure of this spaniel history for me.

DUTCH SPANIEL WORKING TEST Patricia Huskins
This years Test was extra special as Chris Bridgwater came all the way from Hampshire (UK) to judge. The Test criteria are obedience, hunting in light cover, a blind retrieve, hunting in dense cover (which Chris judged) and water work, not necessarily in that following order. Steadiness is expected at all times. The organisers of the Laren WT are renowned for their creativity: the exercises are varied, challenging and different every year.
SNOW TRACKING Moira Simmonds
Maybe it was the food and the camaraderie of other dog people and the fire that has made me still want to track through the snow in the winter. I always feel very productive and I learn a lot in the snow.
